Sociology of trust

thoughts on the bus about trust

I feel like there is not enough study on trust in society.

Trust is an essential thing for a society to work. It's somehow invisible when it is there - and felt when it is not there.
There are sociological research on trust - from what I remember - and economy. Like there is a correlation between economic disparity and the level of trust within a society.

I thought about trust today as I listened to "The rest is politics" - and I don't remember how it was phrases but it associated the reality we think we live in with the media we consume. I'm not sure exactly what's the causality: wither we consume media we trust because they validate our reality - or do we trust media that then build our reality ?
I guess they are both reinforcing.

Anyway, I love trust. I believe being overly trusting is a strength compared to being under trusting. I'm not sure exactly how I came to this conclusion. I think that how the "good faith" principles ( innocent until proven guilty ) in our law system proves itself or research about goodness ( give or take - by Adam Grant) are to blame.
