Finite and infinite game is a book that makes one think
I'm currently reading "Finite and Infinite Games" by. James C Parse.
It's an amazing book, really magical in its style and intellectual rigor. I'm not finished with it yet though.
Still, it surprised me at the beginning as I thought it be about game theory.
I imagined finite games would be zero-sum games ( a game were the winnings of a player means the losing of another ) and positive sum games.
And it kinda is when I think about it, but it takes the poetic route to it.
Anyhoo - thought of the day:
Life is only a positive sum game. We want everybody to prosper at the end, otherwise we are the loser at life.
Winning at the detriment of others is bound to always have a negative impact on the long term.
Zero sum players are recognisable from far and people stop playing with them, interacting with them, and so lose on the longterm.
